Another Great Turn-out!

The B.U.S.C. numbers continue to swell with each meeting!  Today's jam drew nearly forty players from hither and yon.  Afterwards about half of us gathered in front of a fabulous woody owned by new member Dave  Peter of the Sea Galley restaurant in Morro Bay for this group shot.  Thanks also to the Bay Bay Cafe for hosting the event.

Here is a list of the songs we played today.  Add your comments on which songs you liked the best and we'll keep them on the playlist for future meetings.  Also here is the link to James Hill's ukulele big band arrangement of This Little Light of Mine that we started working on.  Once there click on the C6 tuning link to open a PDF of the song.

B.U.S.C. Name In Lights!

Thanks to Gary Dove of the Los Osos Rotary Club the Baywood Ukulele Social Club now has our name (sort of) up in lights.  Gary updates the electronic reader board at the intersection of Los Osos Valley Road and South Bay Blvd. (often referred to as the Crossroads of the West).

Literally hundreds of vehicles pass by or stop at the lights there every single day.  Can international notoriety be far off?  We doubt that, but the next meeting is right around the corner as you can see from the sign.

San Luis Obispo Tribune Article

Pat Pemberton wrote a nice article about me that appeared in today's San Luis Obispo Tribune's entertainment section, The Ticket.  Pat himself is an avid ukulele player.  In fact, although I've only lived in the area for just over four months, I can't believe how many ukulele players there are here!

B.U.S.C. Numbers Up!

It was beautiful on Sunday, August 7, the day of our second meeting of the B.U.S.C. at the Back Bay Cafe in Baywood.  Upwards of 25 folks braved the sunshine and gentle sea breezes to strum and sing their way through an eclectic mix of songs.  Next meeting is Sunday, August 21 @ 3pm.

A good ear training exercise would be to Google the lyrics to the songs we played and try playing them by ear without looking up the chords.  All the songs we played only contain one to three chords.

B.U.S.C. #2 Song List
Chains
Dream Baby
Run Through The Jungle
Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go
Little Sister
Low Rider

New B.U.S.C. Sticker

Club member Linda Grist D'Ville designed the stylish new B.U.S.C. sticker which was unveiled at last Sunday's meeting.  I predict we'll be starting to see the stickers show up on vehicles and ukulele cases all over San Luis Obispo County as well as worldwide.  Speaking of which, even if you don't live in our neck of the woods, you can still be an honorary member by purchasing a sticker or two for yourself.  They are $2 each, or 3 for $5.  Add $1 for shipping.  To order simply visit PayPal and send the money to dville@teleport.com and please include your mailing address.
